Abaki Beck

Abaki Beck is a first year public health graduate student at the Brown School at Washington University. She earned her B.A. in American Studies at Macalester College in 2015. As an Intern with the Prison Education Project, she is a tutor at MECC and assists with curriculum management/planning, researching re-entry resources, and building internal capacity to best respond to student needs.

Prior to attending Washington University, Abaki worked for a Member of Congress on health and Native American policy, conducted community-based research on the Blackfeet Reservation, and worked at an urban planning research and advocacy organization in Chicago. In her spare time, Abaki is a freelance writer with a special interest in Indigenous feminisms, violence against Native women, and Native American political issues.
